Qualities of a Good Support Assistant

February 7, 2020 10:09 am

At Home Care Preferred, we pride ourselves on our team and the quality of care they provide. We strongly believe that it takes a particular personality and special set of traits to become a good Support Assistant, and that is what we look for every time we recruit a new member of our home care family. Many of these traits are innate and cannot be learned – they are simply a natural part of an individual’s personality. Friendliness Support Assistants meet and work with a variety of different clients, and putting them at ease is essential to being able to provide care effectively. Most clients are already vulnerable, so may be distrustful of new people or simply find it difficult...

We’re an eclectic bunch at Home Care Preferred, while some have been in the care sector most of their professional lives many of our team members have a varied background, and some incredible stories to tell on how they found their way to care. To mark National Storytelling Week we have rounded up some of our journeys into the care sector! Sue Gray – Support Assistant  “The reason I became a care was a result of the loss of my husband two years ago. A message from Home Care Preferred’s founder on our 5th Birthday

January 9, 2017 4:06 pm

Five years ago today I started Home Care Preferred and at the time we had only 3 people at the office and a few care staff.  We have grown to a company employing over a 100 people and serving the same amount of clients.  The success of the business is due largely to the dedication of the team and the high levels of support our team members provide to our clients.  I am proud of our team and thank them for all their hard work and loyalty to the company. We have exciting times ahead with the recent launch of our franchise business led by Navaniita Dhar.  We are also planning to launch HCP Social Enterprise in the near future....
