NHS to Provide Bionic Eyes

10 patients with an inherited form of blindness with be given ‘bionic eyes’ courtesy of the NHS. The bionic eye is a retinal implant which interprets images captured by a miniature video camera worn on a pair of glasses. The treatment with start in 2017 with five patients being treated at Moorfields Eye Hospital and five at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. For one year they will be monitored to see how they get on in everyday life. Professor Paulo Stanga, from Manchester hospital, has been involved with ongoing trials of the Argus II Bionic Eye and is said to be delighted with this latest development. The Home Care Preferred Office got well and truly in the festive spirit this week when we spent ‘Christmas morning’ with our work family. Festive garments were adorned, carols were played and many a mince pie and cake was consumed. Saturday 10th of December marked another evening of celebrations for Home Care Preferred. To welcome in the festive season, and celebrate the hard work of our brilliant team and the wider community, Home Care Preferred hosted its second annual awards ceremony. The ceremony recognised members of our own team as well as local figures in the community who are striving to make Enfield and the surrounding area a better, more inclusive, place.
