Our support assistants provide life changing care and support to clients in all aspects of their daily life. The main qualities of a good support assistant are to be dedicated and passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives.
As a support assistant with Home Care Preferred you will experience the special privilege of developing quality and rewarding relationships with your clients. You will be supporting in the homes of clients from varied walks of life, with different backgrounds, lifestyles and personalities.
Our support assistants provide clients and their families with a tailor made experience. The aim is to enable our clients to continue to enjoy fulfilling lives in their own homes, for as long as possible while promoting their independence.
This valued role brings great personal rewards but of course is not without challenges. Our clients include people with a wide range of emotional and physical needs. You will need to be a good listener and be able to demonstrate patience and compassion. You will need to support clients on the difficult days and show empathy and understanding. The energy to meet both the physical and emotional demands of providing care and support is also essential.
Our client group are varied and you could be supporting a young person with a physical injury or a client who is near the end of their life. You may also support more active people who are simply seeking company and companionship.
Our support assistants require a “can do” and positive outlook and must be willing to carry out a wide variety of tasks that may include light cleaning, shopping, escorting a client to hospital or simply being someone to talk to.
We provide the training and practical support you need to be able to provide an excellent level of support. We can also encourage the development of specialist expertise and help our support assistants to participate in the latest nationally recognised training. Some of our team members wish to specialise in a chosen area such as dementia.
You must be able to travel between customers’ homes, ideally with the use of your own transport; however many of our support assistants use public transport.
These positions can be full or part time and hours are flexible.
