Ken Waterhouse, Founder & Managing Director
Ken started his career in the care profession in 1987 when he established his first Residential Care Home for older people. During his career he has operated award winning care organisations, always providing the highest standard of service.
In addition to extensive senior management experience Ken has also carried out “hands-on” care work.
Recruiting people that share his passion for the sector, and building strong and motivated teams has resulted in the delivery of first-rate care.
When a close family member became terminally ill, Ken for the first time experienced care at home from a client’s perspective. It made him truly appreciate how important staying at home really is to people.
Experiencing the stress and emotions families and loved ones encounter when caring for someone he decided to establish a service that make staying at home a reality. Home Care Preferred was founded and as they say “the rest is history”
Ken lives in London and outside of his professional life enjoys time with his family and friends, loves music, film, food and a weekly game of squash.
Laura Brassett, Community Relations Manager
After successful studies at the University of Exeter, Laura gained valuable experience working for a number of high profile companies in London. She then spent nearly a year travelling before joining Home Care Preferred’s executive team in 2015.
Laura enjoys being part of a company that makes a real difference in people’s lives and her enthusiasm and dedication is very clear.
Within the company she is responsible for Sales & Marketing as well as networking, community involvement and organizing events.
She loves reading, meeting up with friends and spending time with her family. She enjoys travel and visits new places whenever there is the opportunity.
Figen Karadogan, Head of Care
Having worked in hotels in the UK and Japan for several years Figen trained as a chef which she then did for 4 years prior to turning to the care industry.
Figen joined Home Care Preferred in 2014 as a Care Assistant, in 2015 she took the role of team leader and in 2016 she became Head of Care. It was clear from when she joined the company that she was a natural to care and has made significant progress in a short space of time.
Figen believes in, and fully supports, the values of HCP.
Outside of work, Figen enjoys travelling, swimming and is an amateur astronomer – There is another skywalker!
Monica Murphy, Recruitment and HR executive
CIPD qualified, Monica has several years’ experience in HR and Recruitment gained in small private companies and large consultancy firms. Following a career break to care for her granddaughter, Monica had time to rethink her career path and applied for a role as a carer with Home Care Preferred.
Monica really enjoyed this role but it wasn’t long before her HR experience came to light and she joined the support team in February 2015.
Her role with Home Care Preferred is divided between HR and recruiting new carers for our team.
Outside work, Monica has a busy family life and enjoys reading, gardening, swimming and running.
Solly Gul, Retail & Products Manager
Solly joined Home Care Preferred after caring for a family member. Solly has worked in many sectors and has a multitude of skills and interests. His passion is now firmly in care and assisting with the long term successful growth of Home Care Preferred.
In addition to providing advice on equipment he also provides information on a range of other services including: Accessible Transport; Signposting; Adaptations.
During his free time Solly likes to spend time with his wife and two children and has a passion for music, cooking and supporting Arsenal football team.
Gina Waterhouse, Finance and Administration
Gina joined Home Care Preferred in May 2013 after a long career at the Lloyds Banking Group in London. Gina is highly skilled in IT and all aspects of administration and plays an important role within the company.
When not working, Gina enjoys flower arranging, listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. A frequently asked question is whether Ken and Gina are related and the answer is “not as far as we are aware”.
Hajnalka Nandori, Finance and Administration
After studying finance and business at university Hajni decided in 2014 that she wanted to give something back to the community. Her mother has been a nurse for over 30 years and Hajni witnessed her enthusiasm and felt that the care industry was the sector for her. Hajni joined Home Care Preferred as a carer and became a Senior Carer.
She has now rejoined us, putting to good use both her previous experience and qualifications in finance as well as her expertise in caring, as our finance administrator.
Outside work, Hajni enjoys running, travelling (especially back to Hungary) and learning about new cultures.
Navaniita Dhar, Franchising Manager
Navaniita started her career in the healthcare sector on a part-time basis as a care support worker whilst studying at University in Dorset. Soon after working in a residential care setting she knew that she wanted to remain in the care profession and commenced with professional qualifications.
Her career progressed rapidly and she was soon in senior roles and subsequently offered a position managing a residential care home. She took a home that was in a crisis situation from a poor grade to a good grade within one month.
In addition to delivering a high level of client care in residential care settings Nav also has experience of providing services to clients in their own homes.
Navanitta joined Home Care Preferred in 2012 as a care manager and in 2016 became the companies first Franchise Manager. In this key role Navaniita is responsible for awarding franchises to suitable people in key locations. In addition she will mentor franchise owners ensuring they develop their branch in line with the values of Home Care Preferred.
In her personal life Nav has worked as a relief worker and a news reporter during the Tsunami crisis and helps with relief work. She enjoys reading, film, Latino & Indian classical dance, politics and current affairs, languages, socialising with friends and family and visits to a wide variety of restaurants.
Farahrouz Abdollahzadehnamini, Compliance Executive
Farah is a qualified registered nurse in her home country Iran. She joined Home Care Preferred as a Support Assistant in 2013, while completing an MSc degree in Nursing & Healthcare.
She is now our compliance executive, assisting Home Care Preferred to ensure the quality of the service promised and to be the best we can be as a team.
In Farah’s words “I love and enjoy working for such a great company as we share the same goal and view, which is making a real difference in people’s lives in a way that develops their quality of life.
I have an endless passion towards dementia, palliative care and in general helping people to live in the best condition possible, which is what they deserve.
All in all, working for Home Care Preferred has made a better person of me and I am proud of being part of it and sharing their goals.”
Julie Philips, Care Coordinator
Julie has worked within the Care Sector for over 15 years, starting her career within clinical settings based in several hospitals in London. Here Julie worked on the maternity and audiology wards, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Julie then worked in residential care supporting young adults and families.
Julie has vast experience with dementia care and a special interest in Vascular Dementia. She believes it is important to give opportunity to individuals with dementia and promote their independence by engaging in specific dementia related activities with them.
Julie joined Home Care Preferred in 2013 as a Senior Care Giver. She is a popular team member and we have received excellent feedback from the clients she supports.
Julie has recently been promoted and is now Home Care Preferred’s Coordinator, which involves some hand’s on support for our clients combined with care planning and client quality assurance.
Outside of work she is family orientated and has personal experiences with supporting close family members; both in long term illness and palliative care, also enabling rehabilitation and recovery of her own brother. Julie also enjoys exercising, especially spinning.
Nazif Sen, Team Leader
After completing his final year of university in the summer of 2015, Naz joined HCP as an office assistant. Once part of the team his hard work and dedication have led him to discover a passion for the care sector and he has now been promoted to Team Leader.
Outside of work he enjoys reading, watching films, and loves classic cars.
Joe Goldfarb, Office Assistant
Joe started working for Homecare Preferred in October 2015.
Joe says “Being the office administrator my duties are varied, from answering the phone and relaying information to care team and support team to helping coordinate support assistants. I document all information relayed and received on our computer software system which provides an audit for all support team. The office is a very enjoyable and challenging place to work.
In my spare time I play a lot of sport including Football and Tennis and generally enjoy socializing over the weekend. Maybe a bit too much at times!” Joe is fan of Tottenham Hotspurs.

Sue Peck, Support Assistant
We were delighted to welcome Sue Peck to our team in January 2016. Sue had taken career break to care for her terminally ill father and found herself looking for a new caring role closer to her home. Qualified to NVQ Level 4, she brings many years’ experience with her, having been working in the Care field since 1992.
Sue’s early career began caring for adults with physical and learning difficulties followed by working in a senior role at a residential home for deaf and blind adults. Not only is Sue hard working and reliable, she is passionate about providing excellent care. She is already a much valued team member and is popular with clients, team members and the office team.
When she is not working, Sue loves spending time with her grown up family.
Veronica Stewart, Support Assistant
Veronica has extensive experience in the Home Care Sector. She is qualified to NVQ 2 level and has also completed much additional training. Her calm and caring disposition makes her very popular and the feedback from clients is always complimentary. In her spare time Veronica likes to socialise with family and friends, go for long walks and she has a dog and loves animals.
Adrianne Palmer-Scott, Support Assistant
Adrianne started caring from a very young age whilst supporting family members. This personal experience led her to study Health & Social care and she holds a NVQ level 2 in this subject. She joined Home Care Preferred in 2013 but had previously gained professional experience working in a private hospital and caring for people in their own homes.
She is popular for her cheerful disposition and the empathy that she demonstrates for our clients. She is also popular with colleagues at Home Care Preferred.
Adrianne is kept busy in her spare time with her children and family. She enjoys cinema, music, travel, sport and travel.
Mala lived in Sri Lanka for 20 years where she was born and raised. During Mala’s time there she studied the Arts and raised her family.
In 1989 Mala came to England with her family. Initially, Mala perused a career in childminding, however when Mala’s husband become ill she decided to become his full time caregiver. Mala supported her husband emotionally and physically for 20 years, until he sadly passed away.
Mala then decided she would like to become a professional caregiver and became a live-in caregive. Mala has been with the company since 2013 and has gained invaluable experience. Her kind nature has been of great comfort to her clients.
Mala’s hobbies include: looking after anilmals, cooking, gardening, walking and spending time with her sons. Mala has a passion for Sri Lankan music, which she enjoys listening to in her spare time.
Mala has a lovely caring nature and is always willing to go that extra mile to help anybody.
